We just got back from our first local farmer’s market trip here in the Phoenix area. We went to Vincent’s Saturday Market, which I found out about at LocalHarvest.org. I called them up last week to check their hours and I was lucky enough to catch them before they close until the fall! Their last day is on Saturday, May 17 and they’re going to open again October 4. They’re open on Saturdays, 9am to 1pm.
I’ve been to several local public and farmer’s markets and this is more like a weekend food bazaar than a harvest market. There were pastries, fresh juices, and awesome awesome pizza. It looks like the neighborhood meeting place under tents. It looks very European (as the site suggests, which I should have checked before going there) with the desert weather, and they do provide lots of tables and chairs to sit at and eat, and chat.
When I told a friend of mine that we buy most of our groceries at Whole Foods when I’m in the US (and Choices or the Granville Island market when I’m in Vancouver), she commented, “Girl, you’re living it up!”
