Why It’s Good to Take A Newbie’s Perspective

The past week we have been taking out guests around Vancouver to see the different sights there is. I like having out-of-town visitors because I get to be a tourist in my own city all over again. We took one of our guests to Whistler, BC and the views were amazing. Yes, I’ve seen it many times, half of which I’ve probably just slept through the trip. Our guest said she can’t afford to snooze in the car because she didn’t want to miss any of the sights.

After having just gone through two rounds of taxes, my mind still had remnants of it so my first utterance was, “This is why it’s so expensive to live here: because we’re paying for the privilege to have all these.”

Our guest on the other hand, had another thought in her mind: “When I see things like this, I’m reminded that there is a God.”

That made me stop in my tracks, because that is very true. I was so focused in my own little world that I forgot the big picture. And that was my lesson for that day.
