A few years ago, a good pal of mine mentioned that the guy she was dating was a ‘biker’. Knowing her, I couldn’t see her dating a big biker dude with a leather jacket, and burly. Let’s just say I was absolutely wrong with my assumptions. So it turns out he is nothing close to my idea of a biker and I see her totally with him. Fast forward to last year. After a tragic and fatal accident in the family, her boyfriend went on a biking trip with the boys. Naturally, she was on guard. This was a long weekend trip and he wasn’t bringing a mobile phone with him. I was glad I wasn’t in her shoes.
I remember her saying that she was being fussy with him about motorcycle safety gear and the importance of wearing motorcycle helmets. He was a bit of a bad boy and occasionally refuse to wear his helmet. She was short of being a nervous wreck then. On top of that, they came home hours late so I was with her on the phone several times trying to comfort her. I was worried as well. Thankfully, they were safe.
A month ago, she went with the him and the boys on one of their long weekend rides. I asked her before if she had her own helmet and of course she did. She said it was a light one and based on the photo she sent me it looked like the hjc ac-12 carbon helmet. It was a very cute photo of the two of them when they reached Laughlin, Nevada. I’m just relieved that they’re back home safe now. There’s something about traveling on a bike that makes me nervous, but knowing they’re taking safety precautions lets me sleep at night.
